{"id":934,"date":"2024-02-28T11:21:26","date_gmt":"2024-02-28T16:21:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ecasavesenergy.org\/?page_id=934"},"modified":"2025-09-19T09:40:44","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T13:40:44","slug":"weatherization","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ecasavesenergy.org\/services\/delaware\/weatherization\/","title":{"rendered":"Weatherization"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<h4>For Delaware Residents<\/h4>\r\n<p><strong>Weatherization is the process of making a home more energy efficient so that hot or cool air doesn&#8217;t escape the structure as quickly, saving you money on your utility bills and increasing comfort in your home.<\/strong> Through the statewide Weatherization Assistance Program (DE WAP), ECA can provide this service for free to income eligible Delaware residents!<\/p>\r\n<p>First, a trained professional will evaluate your home to determine where energy can be saved. This visit will include energy education and offered measures including a programmable thermostat. In addition, the program may fund measures by auditor recommendation:<\/p>\r\n<p>Air sealing and weather stripping<\/p>\r\n<p>Wrapping of hot water heaters, heating pipes and ducts<\/p>\r\n<p>Sealing heating and cooling ducts<\/p>\r\n<p>Attic, wall and floor insulation, and ventilation<\/p>\r\n<p>Heating Repair Referral<\/p>\r\n<p>Other items recommended by auditor<\/p>\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"e6353a_81e99e47073c4e0fb0d4fa73dcdc362d~mv2\" src=\"https:\/\/ecasavesenergy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/e6353a_81e99e47073c4e0fb0d4fa73dcdc362dmv2.jpg\" alt=\"e6353a_81e99e47073c4e0fb0d4fa73dcdc362d~mv2\" width=\"1800\" height=\"1200\" \/> <a href=\"https:\/\/ecasavesenergy.org\/services\/delaware\/weatherization\/apply\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"> Apply Now <\/a><\/p>\r\n<h2>Am I eligible?<\/h2>\r\n<p>WAP is a federal program and has strict eligibility requirements, including:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Residential housing\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Rowhomes, single family homes, and trailers all acceptable<\/li>\r\n<li>No multi-family homes<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>Homeowners and renters\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Renters must have landlord permission and a copy of rental agreement<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>Income not greater than 200% of the Federal Poverty Level\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Not sure if that&#8217;s you? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phila.gov\/departments\/division-of-housing-and-community-development\/about\/income-guidelines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Check here.<\/a><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h2>Are home repairs included?<\/h2>\r\n<p>If home repairs are needed before weatherization, ECA may help with that through the Pre-Weatherization Assistance Program (Pre-WAP). This program focuses on repairs needed to get a structure ready for safe installation of energy efficiency measures. Clients cannot access these home repairs without going through the larger WAP program. Only repairs recommended by the weatherization auditor will be considered.<\/p>\r\n<p>Pre-WAP will consist of a home inspection, contractor coordination for repairs, and a final quality assurance walk through. If referred to Pre-WAP, your home could receive:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Roof repair<\/li>\r\n<li>Window and door replacement, including replacement of glass and crack patching<\/li>\r\n<li>Masonry repair<\/li>\r\n<li>Other minor repairs which would prevent the home from qualifying for the WAP program<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Weatherization (tuned
